Turnkey Available Domains Website For Sale

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

DropEntry.com is an old project of mine that I never had a chance to fully complete and launch.  Since I began publishing lists of available domains on our forums and email newsletter, DropEntry was placed on the back-burner.  I would like to see this project live on, so now I am offering it up for sale!

dropentry-small1.gif

I had originally envisioned a private community of domainers sharing their available domain names with each other.  Each member would have a profile and a place to submit a PayPal donation if you registered one of their shared available domains.

As you can see, DropEntry has a beautiful logo design. The actual website design and CSS were never completed.  The backend is powered by a custom PHP/MySQL script that works well as-is.  Domains are immediately checked for availability upon submission.

Spruce up the design and start promoting DropEntry and you could have yourself a popular domaining website in no-time!  Develop an accompanying email newsletter and blog, sell advertising, implement an affordable subscription fee… the potential is there!

Asking price: $350 - Please contact me to purchase or with questions.

PremiumDrops Hack: Sneak a Peek at Older Expired Domain Lists

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

PremiumDrops.com is the premier expired domain name research tool.  Featuring tons of domain valuation metrics, advanced filtering and lots of other great features.  This service is a must have for all domainers and costs just $24.95 per month.

I know many of my readers are PremiumDrops subscribers already, so I would like to share a little tip that I use quite often for browsing older expired domain lists that are hidden to users.

premiumdrops.png

When searching available or expiring soon domain lists, PremiumDrops only allows you to look at the past 6 days of data.  Why they do this is a mystery to me, possibly to conserve server resources.

To bypass this limit, navigate on to a regular available, pending delete or expiring soon list and your URL will look something like this…

premiumdropsdate.png

By simply editing the date within the URL of a current drop list page you can go back almost a month before the data disappears.  Enjoy!

“TheSecondWeb” is Offering YOUR Domain Names For Sale

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

According to the website, “TheSecondWeb is a completely new World Wide Web. A new Web Browser, a new domain name system and completely new websites.” It is essentially a web-based “browser” with an in-house domain name system powered by some script.

secondweb.gif

While this idea is not new in and of itself, this is the first web-based and non-intrusive (no software required) alternate domain name system that I am aware of.

Domain names in TheSecondWeb cost $5 each to register and as far as I can tell you “own” the domain permanently.  Ironically, TheSecondWeb.NET only allows purchases of .COM domains.

Development within TheSecondWeb environment is confusing to say the least.  Users must use clunky javascript code to link to external websites and it is not clear as to where or how your content is hosted or what types of content or languages are useable other than basic HTML.

Amazingly, TheSecondWeb blog claims that over 1000 domain names have been sold in just a few days since launch.

I foresee some serious legal issues will come to light unless they plan on removing all possible trademarked domains.

What are your thoughts?  Plausible idea or doomed from the start?  Please leave a comment below.

Facebook’s Lexicon Keyword Tool to Get Some Great Updates

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

You heard about the launch of Facebook’s Lexicon first here on DotSauce in April. This keyword tool tracks the popularity of words used in comments on Facebook friend profiles.

Some big news for Lexicon has recently been announced at the Inside Facebook blog.  It seems Lexicon is getting updated! Some powerful and practical new features can be previewed right now and are slated to go live soon.

How Can a Domainer or Developer Use Lexicon?

I can’t wait for the official update to go live so that I can dive in to some keyword research and do some trend domaining. I’m always on the lookout for interesting new keyword tools to use for finding available domains.

Discover ideas for new business or untapped niches all from what 7 million Facebook users are saying TODAY!

These types of tools can also be used to improve your website. By allowing you to explore your main keywords and discover associated keywords, long-tail keywords and negative keywords that you don’t want to be related to. This, in turn, allows you to develop more content and rank higher for a broader set of keyword terms.

Read our article “Facebook: Social Domaining” for a great resource about Domaining related Facebook groups and apps.

If you would like to connect with me on Facebook, visit my profile.
Show your support by joining the DotSauce Fan Page.

Preview the New Lexicon Features

The new version of Lexicon adds a number of new metrics. The preview version is limited to searches on 17 pre-selected terms, but offers a glimpse at what is coming.

  • Actual numbers, instead of just relative volume. Now, you can see how many wall posts are actually being written containing the given term.
  • Demographic breakdowns, by gender and age
  • Geographic breakdowns, by US state, Canadian province, or UK country (no data is available outside of these 3 countries yet). You can also do comparisons between two terms on the same map.
  • Sentiment over time. Facebook has not said exactly how it determines this measure. You can also compare sentiment between two terms.
  • Associations. You can see terms frequently mentioned alongside a given term.

Domain Sales Trend: Offer Your Expiring Domains to the Public

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

While the idea of selling off your almost expiring domains is not a necessarily new one to the industry, it is gaining popularity and exposure through various avenues. Many domainers attempt to get rid of unwanted expiring domains just before they are up for registration renewal fees.

Sometimes this practice is frowned upon, due to the fact that a buyer will have to purchase the name and pay an additional fee to the registrar to maintain ownership. This problem has led various marketplaces to require expiration dates to be posted or do not allow domains expiring soon at all.

DNForum’s New Expiring Soon Domain Sales Forum

One of the most popular and lively domain discussion communities, DNForum ($50 lifetime membership fee) recently created a new area to be used for selling your domains expiring within 30 days at a fixed discount price of $20.

Why they require the price to be $20 is not clear.  One could sell a domain for $16 and still have doubled their investment.  The fixed price restriction should be a maximum of $20 or something of the sort.

This process is meant to save the domain owner the cost of renewing a domain. It also offers a buyer the opportunity to find decent names at a discounted price.  Otherwise these domains will not be available for several weeks while they go  through the pending-delete process or potentially get backordered.

One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure

It will be interesting to see how this new expiring domain sales forum progresses in a few weeks. Technically you should be able to take note of older posts and scan them for availability.  Because these names are essentially in the “bargain bin” you will most likely find that many will become available soon.

Don’t Miss Another Available Domains Newsletter!

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

The third edition of the DotSauce Available Domains Newsletter was sent out yesterday evening.  We’ve had a great response from subscribers who are finding quality .COM domain names.

Providing Quality Over Quantity

Our best measure of success is in what’s taken; About 50 available domain names are delivered every few days and so far over 30 great domains have been claimed and registered!

There are many available domain newsletters floating around the domainersphere, comprised mostly of mediocre names with made up words, non-profitable niches and littered with .NET and other extensions.

We Do the Research, You Develop or Resell

You will clearly see the value in each and every name we publish to the newsletter.  We manually examine and research these expired domains to produce the best quality lists of domains with profit potential through development or resale.

Some names we have found for our subscribers that are now taken

CreateFlags.com … RetiredUSAF.com … KnickersLingerie.com … ForumPoll.com … BorderlineCrazy.com … EducationalPurposes.com … TechTuesday.com … NewsletterProducer.com … FoundGifts.com … ProfitRoundtable.com … RealDrugStores.com … FreelyGiving.com … RockProdigy.com … ScentedThings.com … OnlineAdvertisingSales.com … FlashMemoryDevices.com … ImpressiveSales.com

…and we believe there are even better names which haven’t been claimed from our list yet!
