Tucows Ends In-House Drop Auction

Tucows, a wholesale domain registrar, has decided to end its in-house drop auctions for expired domains as reported by The Domains.

Up until now, Tucows had been retaining a certain portion of its expired domains while putting the rest up for auction. Although it hasn’t been announced yet, it is assumed they’ll use either NameJet or SnapNames to process their lists in the future, even though Afternic would be another possibility as well.

After the Tucows decision is officially announced, which is expected in the next couple of weeks, GoDaddy will move forward as the only registrar to still run an in-house expired domain auction.
